Informal Review: Wanda Jackson

Those 1950s Wanda Jackson singles are like getting your ass beaten by a chick you want to nail and loving every minute of it.  She just rips it up, and the prospect of Wanda getting a Jake White makeover is pretty hard to resist.  This one isn’t nearly as good as Loretta Lynn’s VAN LEAR ROSE (2004), largely because Jackson doesn’t really have the songwriting chops – and a few tunes, like “Rum and Coca Cola” are actively annoying, unfortunately.  But most of it proves that she can still rock the party.
