Informal Reviews: Iron & Wine

Iron & Wine-KISS EACH OTHER CLEAN
There comes a moment in many a critics’ favorite’s career when he dumps the stripped-down schtick and makes a pop album that is all “soundscape” and “texture.”  Sam Beam, your moment has arrived.  And it is boring.  Things perk up a little on “Rabbit Will Run,” which doesn’t seem to be an Updike reference, but – like his peer, Sufjan Stevens – his pansy act has never really excited me.  Bonus points for trying.
